The Story of Vasco & Piero’s Pavilion: A Timeless Soho Institution

Founded in 1971 by Vasco Matteucci and Piero Orazietti, Vasco & Piero’s Pavilion has been a cornerstone of Soho’s culinary scene for over five decades. Known as one of the best Italian restaurants in London Soho, we specialize in authentic Umbrian cuisine with fresh, homemade pasta and a menu that changes twice daily.

Over the years, the restaurant became a beloved spot for artistic and political figures, gaining a reputation for its cozy yet vibrant atmosphere. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Vasco & Piero’s faced significant challenges but managed to persevere. In October 2021, the restaurant relocated to 11 D’Arblay Street, London, a fresh start just around the corner from its original location.

The new interiors were designed by an Italian designer, with hand-made furniture and lighting imported from Italy, preserving the authentic Italian feel. The walls are adorned with artwork by Giampaolo Tomassetti, a celebrated Italian artist, further adding to the Umbrian heritage and charm. The move allowed the restaurant to maintain its classic Italian soul while incorporating a modern ambiance that complements its vibrant Soho surroundings.

Throughout the decades, Vasco & Piero’s Pavilion has remained true to its roots, serving simple, authentic Italian food that reflects the flavors of Umbria. Our dishes are made from the freshest seasonal ingredients, and we continue to uphold our commitment to quality with every meal. Despite trends in the restaurant industry, the Pavilion stands as a testament to the beauty of consistency and tradition, making it one of the best Italian dining experiences in Soho.

In its over 50 years of history, Vasco & Piero’s Pavilion has attracted everyone from casual diners to London’s most influential figures. From artists and musicians to political leaders, the restaurant has hosted a diverse array of patrons, all drawn to its inviting atmosphere and dedication to authentic Italian cuisine.

The new location at D’Arblay Street marked an exciting new chapter in the restaurant’s history, but the philosophy remains the same: to offer a warm, welcoming space where guests can enjoy fresh, simple Umbrian dishes in a relaxed and friendly environment. This is the heart of what makes Vasco & Piero’s Pavilion one of the best Italian restaurants in London Soho.

Whether you’re a longtime patron or discovering us for the first time, a meal at Vasco & Piero’s Pavilion is a celebration of good food, family, and tradition. Join us at 11 D’Arblay Street and experience the true taste of Italy in the heart of Soho.
